5 Day Kidepo Valley National Park Safari

Our company representative will pick you up from your hotel in Kampala and transfer you to Kidepo valley National Park however, you will be able to visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary which offers an opportunity to see white rhinos, as well as species of wildlife. Tracking and viewing the rhinos usually involves a short drive followed by 1.5 - 2 hours walking and viewing with a ranger. After this experience, you will head to a hotel in Masindi town for lunch and thereafter proceed to Gulu for an overnight and dinner.

This day will start with an early breakfast after which you will transfer to Kidepo National Park which is Uganda’s most isolated national park, nestled in the rugged, semi-arid valleys between the Sudanese and Kenyan borders in the north-eastern Karamoja region of Uganda. Transected by the Narus and Kidepo Rivers, the park hosts a big game, with over 80 species of mammal, including lion, leopard, elephant, giraffe, zebra and various antelope species. The park hosts mammals like cheetah, striped hyena, aardwolf, caracal and kudu and many more. With a total of more than 475 different bird species, Kidepo is also the best place for bird watching. You will as well encounter the grassland plains of the Narus Valley, where most of the park’s wildlife congregates due to the permanent water. You will move to the north where you will see the Kanangarok hot springs - a fabulous place to look out for ostrich and to admire the mountains beyond the frontier. This activity will lead you to time for lunch at your lodge. After lunch, you will go for a game drive into the Narus Valley below. In the evening, you will return to your lodge for overnight and dinner.

This day will begin with an early breakfast, you will pack your lunch as you head for a full day game drive, taking in the areas surrounding the Narus Valley, the Kidepo River and up towards the hot springs, where ostrich may often be viewed. This game drive will give you a chance to view more birds and any other game that you may have missed in day 2, this activity will lead you to the end of the day. You will transfer back to your lodge for overnight and dinner.

After your breakfast at your lodge, you will drive from Kidepo Valley National Park to Sipi Falls which is actually a series of three pretty waterfalls in eastern Uganda. This drive will be through Karamoja and Pian Upe game reserves and lunch will preferablr be packed. Hikes around the falls offer beautiful views of the slopes of the mountain and also of the Karamoja plains and over to Lake Kyoga. The Sipi area is also famous for its locally grown Bugisu Arabica coffee which only grows at an altitude of between 1600m and 1900m. In contrast to Kidepo, the Sipi area enjoys a cool and peaceful climate. After an early breakfast at in Kidepo you will start your journey towards Sipi Falls. The end of this activity will lead you to the lodge for an overnight and dinner.

For the last day of your safari, the day will start with a morning breakfast at your lodge, thereafter drive back to Kampala and get dropped off at a hotel in Kampala or connect to the airport for your onward flight and this will mark the end of your safari.
