If you think you need a week to enjoy a true African safari, think again. Just two days in Lake Mburo National Park gave me an unforgettable experience filled with wildlife, peaceful scenery, and surprising adventure.
We left Kampala early with our guide from Adventure Volunteers, making our first stop at the Equator in Kayabwe. There, we took fun photos and saw a water experiment showing the shift between hemispheres—simple, but fascinating.
After a quick lunch in Masaka, we entered the park and were immediately greeted by zebras grazing beside Ankole long-horned cattle, a rare sight only found in Uganda. Later, a boat ride on Lake Mburo gave us a relaxing close-up view of hippos, crocodiles, and colorful birds. Sunset over the water was pure magic.
The next morning, we set out for an early game drive, spotting topis, impalas, buffaloes, and even warthogs with their tails sticking straight up. But the real highlight? A horseback safari. Riding through the savannah with zebras nearby felt surreal—and it’s something you won’t find in many parks.
By the time we headed back to Kampala, I felt refreshed, grounded, and full of stories. Lake Mburo is small but mighty. If you’re short on time but want a real safari experience, this is the trip for you.
